Simmer Style sail designer Jason Diffin reports:
By admin on 12/21/2006
"-Sri Lanka is up and running with the 07 Flatwater sail production, finalized by me just a few days ago. Our production source has just finished their windsurf sail production area, and it looks fantastic- one of the biggest, brightest, cleanest work spaces I have ever seen. I am confident that they will produce quality better than ever for us.

'08 wave design work is well under way with new prototypes on the water now.

We are looking to maintain the best characteristics of all the wave models, but also work to improve the defining characteristics of each model- for example- XFLEX and VISION should become more maneuverable and surf performance oriented. ICON should be improved for range and handling- the most important thing fo ...

Ascanio D' Ascanio
By admin on 12/16/2006

Since his time in Jeri, Brazil is almost up, we will bet you ten to one that Ascanio D' Ascanio is without a doubt busy squeezing in a couple Ponch's, Willy skippers and what not before packing it up. We'll even bet you that he's still in his boardshorts and harness dripping saltwater when he gets on the plane, anything to get one or two more tricks nailed before it's time to head home to Ibiza. Whether he'll have the time to unpack or not before heading down to South Africa's Cape Town for some more wind and waves on January 10th is hard to say, but with plans for yet another spring on Maui it's safe to say that this guy gets a lot of windsurfing done. Check out some pictures of Ascanio making the most of his time in Jeri, Brazil. He even included some ...

Kai "Flykatcher" Katchadourian
By admin on 12/12/2006
After having literally sailed his ass off in the Aloha Classic (taking 10th place) Kai "Flykatcher" Katchadourian gives us a glimpse into a post Aloha Classic Ho'okipa.

"–There have been many days on the water lately and sessions seem to be sailed with a little less urgency after the end of the event, soul carves and the hitting big airs with not caring if its a make or not, the judges are not scoring anymore so its all out shred missions going down. Shout-outs to all Simmer Team Riders worldwide for a ripping 2007 !!!"

Sylvain Demercastel
By admin on 12/11/2006
With his last event being a wave comp on Maui in 1996 Sylvain Demercastel surprised a few people including himself when he took 10th place at a wave event in Siouville, France recently. So watch out cuz you might just be up against a very motivated Frenchman at the next event. Another thing that kept him busy was writing his first (in a line of features) article for Planchemag that should be out by the time you read this, so make sure to pick up a copy.

New Zealand's Mike La Franchie...
By admin on 12/7/2006

While a lot of people are stuck in winter right now things are just warming up for New Zealand's Mike La Franchie who's been making the most out of the last winter/spring swells. While carving mast high walls with everything from 40 knots to non-existent winds on the inside, Mike is relying heavily on his Icon's, which he describes like this:

"-My Icons are handling very well throughout the full range of wind conditions. Whether sailing under or over powered they still feel stable in my hands, with a steady pull of power to drive me through bottom turns."

Yet another statement that further proves the Icon's worldwide ability to handle any spot, in any conditions at any time.

Francisco Porcella...
By admin on 12/7/2006
Francisco Porcella on the other hand is one of those who's stuck with winter right now, but since he's on Maui it doesn't get too cold and waves are huge so he just got himself a few bombs at Outer Spreck's including a triple mast high wave a week or so ago. Triple mast!!!! Now that's a lot of water behind you just get that tape measure out and get 12 m (40 feet) going, yes that is quite big isn't it? After that he cooled down with some mast high, side off, down the line days at Ho'okipa only to find out Wind Mag ...

Phillipe "Gonz" Raymond has been busy ripping every wave...
By admin on 12/5/2006
With big waves, side off wind in Carro and an Italian invasion, French Simmer rider Phillipe "Gonz" Raymond has been busy ripping every wave he could get for himself. With 2 weeks of board testing, photo shooting and filming on Fuerteventura coming up it looks as if "Gonz" is to stay busy for a while yet.

Emma Johansson's month and a half long stay in Jeri, Brazil.
By admin on 12/2/2006

Time flies when you have a good time. So with all those good winds and warm waters it's no wonder there's only a week left of Emma Johansson's month and a half long stay in Jeri, Brazil. Despite the days flying by she says it's been a really good time with lots of progress that even a stretched knee ligament couldn't stop.
